I am a physicist at heart. After a Master’s in Astrophysics at Tor Vergata, I pursued a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at La Sapienza. Although my doctorate was technically under the Faculty of Engineering, I spent my time in the Physics Department, where I felt most at home. Throughout my academic years, I was deeply involved in the
EGO-Virgo collaboration, working on quantum optics and optical benches for gravitational wave detection.
I joined CrestOptics in 2023 as an Optical Engineer. Transitioning from the vastness of the universe to the microscopic scale was a twist of fate that allowed me to bring my experimental background into a dynamic R&D environment. After all, it turns out that light behaves the same way regardless of the scale; I have just changed the lab to play in. Today, I divide my time between optical design and hands-on laboratory testing. I have had the opportunity to manage the optical development across various project lifecycles, from initial design to prototype testing and production handover, and I am currently deeply involved in the development of CrestOptics’ next product innovations.
I have a bit of an obsession with doing things “the right way”. I prefer quality over quantity and speed: I want to understand the physics of a problem to find solid, scientific solutions, rather than quick fixes. I like to “get my hands dirty” in the lab because that is where physics becomes real. At CrestOptics, I have found a great group of people who share my scientific and technical curiosity, but also my (dark) sense of humor and interests.
