My academic journey began in my home region of Trentino-Alto Adige (Italy), where I studied Physics and first developed a passion for optical microscopy. I went on to earn my Ph.D. in Physics in Genoa (Italy), focusing on advanced microscopy techniques at the Nikon Imaging Center within the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT). This program also included a five-month specialized research stay in Osaka (Japan). Following my Ph.D., I spent four years as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Maryland (USA), mastering Brillouin microscopy under the mentorship of Prof. Giuliano Scarcelli, a pioneer in the field. Seeking a new challenge beyond academia, I relocated to Rome to apply my specialized expertise at CrestOptics.
I joined CrestOptics as an Optical Engineer in the R&D department in 2023, bringing a strong foundation in physics and advanced microscopy, and an extensive international research experience. Today, I am proud to co-lead an innovative R&D project on Brillouin microscopy, aimed at expanding the company’s capabilities from fluorescence-based imaging into the cutting-edge realm of label-free biomechanical imaging.
Outside the lab, you can find me traveling, exploring the culinary scene, attending concerts, and dancing.
