Scientific Software Developer

We are looking for a Scientific Software Developer with focus on bio-image processing.
We are interested in Master/PHD degreed Engineers, Physicists, Mathematicians, Computer Science Professionals with a passion and experience in programming and in using Artificial Intelligence or High Performance Computing for biological image processing.

The primary focus of this position will be the design and implementation of software tools for processing and analyzing biological images obtained through fluorescence microscopy.

The candidate will heavily contribute by designing and implementing workflows using state-of-the-art approaches, algorithms, and architectures, including machine-learning / AI frameworks.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Develop solutions and algorithms for image processing
  • Work in collaboration with scientists and engineers developing microscopy hardware to improve instrument performances.
  • Manage deadlines and deliveries in accordance with the schedule defined with the team leader or project manager
  • Report results and advancements both to the area manager and directly to management

The ideal candidate for this position should have:

  • Experience and understanding of image processing
  • Knowledge of state of the art machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience in development of software applications and products
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning tools, algorithms and architectures (e.g. Tensorflow).
  • Knowledge of commercial or open-source image processing platforms, tools (e.g ImageJ/Fiji, Icy, Scikit-Image, Python, NumPy, SciPy, Napari, OpenCL,, Omero, , etc…) is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with open-source image analysis and deep-learning frameworks, such as DeepImageJ is a plus.
  • Experience with GPU accelerated processing is a plus.
